White (2018)
Type + Image Design, taught by Franz Werner at Rhode Island School of Design – Summer Institute of Graphic Design Studies. 2 week course. Project was 3 days.
This project was very open and we could do our project on anything "white." It could relate to white, or be something about light, or the reflection of light. Anything. I chose to do my project on white privilege. I wanted the cover to be completely black with white type to create a strong contrast in value and in symbolism. Inside the book I have 5 categories where white privilege is an issue. Each page has an image created from sun activated fabric. I used objects that relate to the category and chose a color that represent the category in my mind. On the other side of the page I added quotes or poems about white privilege that targeted the category to show others perspective on white privilege and maximize the impact.
