 T-shirt Designs (2019)

Shirt designs I have created. Some have been printed, others not.

Carnegie Mellon University SWIM TEAM

Shirts for Carnegie Mellon University Varsity swim team. All self–printed.

I was tired of seeing the same shirt designs, so my concepts were all striving to be something new and different. The first design I made back in 2018 was experimenting with forming the type to a shape (left image below). I had the scotty dog sit in the center and then have the type conform around it. I created another design in the fall of 2019. I had the idea to have the type feel like it was floating on water and moving to the motion of the waves. My other idea was to have the “swim & dive” dance in and out of the letters of tartans to have something that was playful. The senior class liked the shirt with the “swimming & diving” looking like an ocean wave and thought it would be a fun idea to have a tie dye event with the team. We printed the t-shirts on white and then tie dyed them in the fall semester of 2019.

With the left design below, I wanted the front to focus on national team type being big and incorporating an element that references water/swimming. For the design on the right, I challenged myself to illustrate a scotty dog sitting in the pocket. For the back, I wanted to play with using water elements.

Typical Carnegie mellon shirts (for athletics).

Carnegie Mellon University

Scotty dog (Carnegie Mellon mascot) design was screen printed onto shirts for a graphic media management class at Carnegie Mellon University. One of two designs voted by class to be printed.

Shirt idea for Spring Run summer league swim team. Did not get printed.

My idea for this shirt was taking their wordmark sharks and adding water ripples around it to make the design more interesting and dynamic.
